Sensory Seeing
Photographs can be a way of keeping memories alive, but accessing photographs relies on the ability to see and process visual information. My research and development into 3D printing over the last 3 years has now brought me to a stage where I can turn a 2d digital image into a tactile relief, enabling someone to 'see' a photograph through touch.
This project is still a work in progress, I am working with the visually impaired and people with dementia to develop the project further. My intention is to create a bespoke service to suit the individual's requirements.
My hope is that these 3D images will unlock a treasure trove of memories for people who are struggling to access 2d visual imagery.
I am in talks with galleries, museums and visual arts organisations to offer Sensory Seeing information points for their visitors, creating better access for visually impaired and disabled people.
Please get in touch if you are interested in purchasing a 3D image, or would like to discuss ideas for a Sensory Information Point for your visitors.
